Birmingham based manufacturer Frost Electroplating offers a wide range of capabilities for metal finishing including offering bespoke solutions and coatings to improve customers products.

The company continuously invests and innovates in developing high-performance coatings, and processes for an array of industries. Their range of nickel coatings meets many needs for specific hardness, corrosion resistance and low friction requirements. Their specialist areas include precious metals primarily for automotive electronic applications.

Frost Electroplating was awarded a certificate of thanks recently for taking part in the Ventilator Challenge UK. The document mentioned thanks from industry leaders Ford, Penlon, HVM Catapult, Mclaren, Siemens Healthineers and Airbus. The certificate read:

“Your Company was a vital part of our battle to save lives threatened by Covid-19, It has shown the very best of British business”

The firm also received a letter that states the determination, energy and ingenuity brought to the challenge thanks to companies such as Frost Electroplating. It also highlights that through the efforts of the companies involved, they have made sure that a “high-quality ventilator will be available for any patient who needs one.”

Frost was responsible for nickel plating and anodising parts already manufactured to ensure the quality needed for the Penlon Prima ES02 Ventilator. These parts included specialist fasteners, casings for electronics and bodies.

The project which started in April 2020 was due to be completed the second week of June which the firm ran 24 hours shifts, including weekends, to ensure the thousands of parts were ready for the ventilators.

Seamus Bourke, Business Development Manager at Frost Electroplating, said:

“We’d like to pay tribute to the workforce at Frost who have come in for special praise in volunteering to go the extra mile to produce the quantities required at such short notice. A prime example of this is that we’ve had components plated on Saturday morning to go on ventilator assemblies needed on the NHS frontline Sunday evening.

We’d also like to pay tribute to our existing clients in other market sectors for their understanding and tolerance as we work hard to maintain a first-class service to both the existing and additional supply chains”
